We’re excited to share that the red warning lights on the ends of Pittsburgh & Lake Erie 518 are finally operational! While this may seem like a small milestone in the grand scheme of things, it’s a moment we’ve eagerly anticipated. It feels fantastic to breathe new life into our 60-year-old caboose.
The original lights were rewired back in 1996 to run on 120v power, but the old double contact bulbs had long since burned out. After a bit of searching, we found an excellent replacement in the form of energy-efficient LED bulbs! Not only do they provide brighter illumination, but they also help lower energy costs.
Stay tuned as we continue our journey at Caboose Falls. We can’t wait to share more updates as we restore this unique getaway to its former glory!
