One Year at Caboose Falls

Working Together: An essay by Thaddeus

I think Caboose Falls is a dream come true. I love trains, and now we own three real ones! I was very surprised when I first found out we were buying Caboose Falls.

One of the first things I did when we got the cabooses was run down the driveway. I was going so fast that I fell, but I was OK! I also climbed on the red caboose and pretended to be a conductor.

I was really surprised by the mess that vandals had left behind. They took the pipes and left trash everywhere. I didn’t understand why someone would do that, but I thought cleaning up could be fun. I helped move trash out of the cabooses. It was hard work carrying everything up the big hill to the driveway.

There are so many things I like about Caboose Falls. I like to play in the woods pretending to be in a magical forest and using sticks as swords. I also like watching trains, and playing in the stream down in the ravine. The most exciting thing for me is going down the zip-line.

My grandpa came to visit, and that was really special to me. He enjoys coming to Caboose Falls, and I like having him here with us.

This year, I’ve learned a lot about trains, the history of our cabooses, and even about Fr. Schleicher, who built Caboose Falls. It’s been fun to work on making this place amazing again.

I also really liked having my cousin visit. For next year, I want to fix the water so we can use the sink in one of the cabooses.

I think what makes Caboose Falls special is working together with my family. I can’t wait to see what we do next!
