It was an incredibly beautiful weekend which made it hard to spend time working on the property. Still, we cleared a lot more brush from the driveway edges, reduced the brush pile to a heap of ash, and exposed the rails behind 518.

The weekend’s big project was preparing for the boys’ new zip-line. Once complete, the line will carry riders from 17’s back porch, over the daffodil garden, and down into the picnic area.

We explored the ravine located behind number 17 for the first time. During our trek, we discovered a spring that was hidden under a thick layer of leaves. The water from this spring cascades down the ravine, completely concealed by the leaves, until it reaches a steep drop-off near the end of the ravine. That’s where it mysteriously disappears into the ground. We’re all eager to spend more time exploring this area.
Nothing particularly exciting on the rails today, but it was a busier day than usual.
